a gorgeous 6 acre bush property on the iconic Great Ocean Road, Bellbrae.

Bellbrae Clay specialises in Hand Building workshops, in a relaxed and creative space, where you will explore a range of clays, tools and equipment while receiving support with hands-on demonstrations of the core building techniques relevant to your chosen session.

Bellbrae Clay was born from the need to slow down, reconnect with ourselves, nature and our community.

Working with clay in its natural form involves nurturing to manipulate the mud and sculpt to your desired result. To be still, focus your mind and play. Getting back to nature, fresh air, mud in hand and chats with friends… Bliss!

During our workshops you will learn the core hand building techniques, all workshops are suitable for beginner to advanced level. Class sizes allows us to work with the ability of each student.

Clay is a slow process, we are so use to having everything we want at the click of a button… We can’t rush clay like we can’t rush our plants to grow. Your work may take up to 4 weeks to be ready for collection depending on nature (drying process) and the size of your forms.

Good things take time. remembering this is an ancient form of making when life was slower and some may say easier… Clay is about the process not just the end result and that to me is meditative in itself.

Workshop Options:

Mixed Groups

Join other like-minded participants and join one of our group hand-building workshops. Workshops are released the first of each month, with 4 workshops to choose from on average.

During this engaging workshop, you'll receive hands-on demonstrations of essential hand-building techniques, including slab construction, coiling, basic shaping, and joining methods. With guidance and examples from the studio, you'll have the freedom to craft whatever you wish.

Private Groups

Private workshop are designed for Birthdays, Baby Showers, Hens Party, Team Building, Christmas Party’s and anything else you need to celebrate! With unlimited fun and inspirational resources, immerse yourself in 2 hours of fun with an additional hour to enjoy the outdoor space & fire pit for drinks & nibbles (BYO).

With hands-on demonstrations, guidance and examples from the studio, you'll have the freedom to craft whatever you wish while creating memories.

Walk-in Casual

Come and visit, shop, make or paint ceramics during our open, walk-in Friday sessions.

This is your perfect opportunity to explore the studio space with friends and family or indulge in some creative "me time."

During these open studio sessions, you can choose between painting pre-made ceramics or crafting your own clay creations at your own pace.

Basic instruction sheets will be available, allowing you to guide yourself through the clay-making process.

Clay is sold by weight, and our team will be on hand to assist you in selecting the right type and amount of clay for your intended project.

School Holiday Fun

When school holidays arrive, it's the perfect time for our young creatives to dive into some artistic fun in the studio! These workshop is suitable for children and adults of all ages and abilities, ensuring everyone can enjoy a unique creative experience.

During these engaging workshop, participants will receive demonstrations and guidance of essential hand-building techniques to make amazing creations while also creating lasting memories.

It’s time to let your little creatives shine with a fun-filled birthday celebration at Bellbrae Clay!

Our kids parties are designed to be an exciting and memorable experience for the birthday child and their friends.

With hands-on demonstrations, guidance and examples from the studio, party goers have the freedom to craft and create memories.

Once the artistic activities wrap up, there will be plenty of time for food and cake to celebrate the special day (BYO). It’s the perfect blend of creativity and celebration!
